Readjusting Our Focus
I am not a Christian Fatalist. A Christian Fatalist believes that God has decided to bring judgment and “wipe out” a nation, as if He is really mad and is throwing a temper tantrum. They have been reading all the “judgement books,” and are convinced now that we are doomed, and there is absolutely nothing we can do about it. They are sure that the tribulation is on the doorstep, etc. etc. etc.
This was from our March 2021 newsletter.
What is the setting? The Biden administration was in full swing, inflation was rampant, gas prices were out of control, big tech was censoring our speech, and convicted criminals were pouring across our Southern border.
Nancy Pelosi was trying to push HR1 through congress, which would have made it, as Mitch McConnel said, impossible for the Republicans to win an election for 100 years.
Things were very dark!
And now it is February, four years later. Who could have believed the change we see today?
It is our solemn duty to believe God desires good things for his people.
Jeremiah 29:11(NKJV) says,
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
I never went with the Christian Fatalists, described in the first paragraph. In fact, one of the main reasons I wrote my recent book, Is This The End . . . Or Just The Beginning?, was because of the abundance of doom and gloomers, with their toxic message, I was encountering. Many years ago I went to prayer for the nation. God said to me, “Don’t worry, George. America will yet recover.”
Now, you see what has happened. We have shifted to the right in a big way. Fox News is having record viewership, while CNN and MSNBC are just barely hanging on. The big tech guys like Mark Zukkerberg are cozying up to Trump because they understand the general shift of the American people away from Far Left values. Even Bill Gates recently stated that big tech must go to the right. In a year’s time, I would guess our economy will be booming and gas prices will have dropped by a dollar a gallon.
In my journaling a year or so ago, the Lord said to me, “America will be better than ever.” Trump is now saying that America will be better than ever, and we are entering a Golden Age.
Why? Because it is God’s will and because hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Christians interceded for the nation.
If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
1 Timothy 2”1-4 says it all. We are to pray for all men and for those in authority that we might live “a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness.”
This is God’s will. Why? The next two verses tell us why. Because God wants all people everywhere to come to Him . . . and “a quiet and peaceable life is the ideal condition in which to evangelize the world.
Charles Finney said we are here on the earth for one reason . . . to win the lost to Christ.
I agree with him.
What is more important than winning the lost to Christ? It is the reason Jesus came to earth to die for our sins. We have seen from the passage in Timothy that God’s top priority is to win the lost to Christ. It is His heart . . . to bring the lost home that they might be saved from an eternal hell.
Does your heart beat in sync with God’s? Do you feel the anguish of those around you who do not know Christ? Do you care? Do you pray for them? Do you think on ways you can talk to them about their salvation?
Or are you distracted with all of the activity of living, of building security for yourself? Of piling up money for your retirement?
If you are putting security and the world’s riches first, and putting God’s heart of winning the lost last, then you have it exactly backwards.
We are to seek first the kingdom. That means putting God and all He seeks to establish, first. He promises that if we put these things first, security and safety in the world will be added to us.
So, if you want to turn your heart wholeheartedly to the things that are important to God, take this instruction from Charles Finney, America’s most successful evangelist:
Make it an object of constant study, daily reflection, and prayer to learn how to deal with sinners and to promote their conversion. It is the great commission of every Christian to save souls. People often complain that they do not know how to handle this matter. Yet these same people have never taken the time to qualify themselves for the work. If people were as careless in preparing themselves for their worldly business as they are to save souls, how do you think they would succeed?
Now if you are neglecting the main business of life, what are you living for?
Is This The End . . . Or Just The beginning?
We have been very encouraged by the sale of my new book. On our last speaking engagement in a church, a young woman who had bought and read my book bought three more copies for her friends. Two individuals, after reading the book, bought copies for their pastors. Every pastor should read this book!
I strongly encourage you to purchase the book and read it. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. Here are some of the comments from readers:
“I like this book. It’s not too long and an easy read. It is replete with personal stories and antidotes you can identify with. I felt moved to make sure that I wasn’t just one swinging at Christian air, shadow boxing, or paddling down an easy “blessed” river. Do you want to hear what’s on God’s heart? Do you want to make your punches count? Delve into this little gem. It may surprise you.”
Curt – Ministry Head
“An extremely important book for those troubled by the division and lack of civility in our present society. The writer has researched in-depth historical patterns from the past to the present day endangering our children, our families, and thus our nation. Seeing what works and what does not work involves looking at human nature, societal norms, and even political issues. George has done a well thought out and fresh presentation, both informative and interesting. A “hard to put down once started” book, it will give answers and hope for future generations for “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!”
Ivan – Optician
“I like this book. George is a master storyteller!”
Dan – Businessman
“I found George’s book insightful and written from his heart. As a former classmate to George, I recognized that George was set apart to be a very special man. His faith is unchanging, like our Lord.”
Diana – businesswoman
